The international Lahti Historic Rally has been organised annually in Lahti since 2002, excluding in 2020, when the international event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and only the national Top Building Rally took place. This year the organising of the international event has been progressing normally with hopes of a more traditional version of Lahti Historic Rally to take place in August.

However, big plans have been in motion in the background and as a result we are proud to able to welcome the Finnish Historic Rally Trophy series into the Lahti Historic Rally family! HRT is the most popular historic rallying series in Finland and combined with the FIA European Historic Rally Championship competitors we are expecting to see more than 100 historic rally cars in Lahti in a few months’ time.

But in these strange times that is not all the big news! After sudden changes in the Finnish Rally Championship calendar the series was searching for a new event and we are now proud to able to welcome also the modern rallying beasts for a visit in Lahti this year! We are expecting in total more than 50 modern cars like R5’s and R2’s to enter the Top Building Rally, driving the rally route right after the international competitors of the Lahti Historic Rally and the HRT series.

As a result we are seeing a combination never raced before in the same event in Finland. The event will consist of two days with the rally starting on Friday 13th of August in the Lahti harbour. The full route includes six different special stage roads split equally between two full days of rally action. Each stage is driven twice to make up in total 12 special stages. All historic classes compete all the 12 stages whereas the modern Finnish Rally Championship cars join the competition on special stage 4 on Friday.

The organising committee warmly welcomes all competitors to Lahti in August and wishes to create an unforgettable and historic rallying event on the beatiful roads of the region.
