Lahti Historic Rally, the Finnish round of the FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship scheduled to take place in August has been cancelled due to the global COVID-19 situation and the resulting traveling restrictions that would have made it difficult if not impossible for the international competitors to arrive in Finland.
So far most of the events in the FIA EHS Rally Championship of 2020 have either been cancelled or postponed, with only the rallies in Italy and Switzerland later in the autumn maintaining their dates. At the original date, the Lahti event would have been the season opener and August fast approaching, competitors would have had to start making travel preparations already.
The organising committee felt the only responsible decision was to cancel the event for the benefit of all parties. The organisers are now looking already to 2021 for hosting a yet another exquisite historic rally on the beautiful roads of the Lahti region.
Top Building Rally will be driven 15.08.2020
Rallying will once again take place in Lahti this summer, as the Lahti Historic Rally organizer hosts the national Top Building Rally on August 15th! (NEAFP)
The rally will consist of 84 kilometres of special stages split into two identical loops of three stages. The organizer has made sure almost any competitor can enter the event, as a myriad of classes are provided allowing even international participants.
Naturally the rally will follow all guidance and ruling by the local sporting and legal authorities in respect to the COVID-19 situation, including limiting close contacts between personnel in all parts of the event. More information is provided directly to competitors and spectators before the event. We wish to see a diverse and exciting group of entrants taking up the challenge and welcome all spectators to the winding countryside roads of the Lahti region!
